I dunno.... Seems people can be either leaders (setting own rules) or followers (doing as others say). Or maybe even one or the other depending on circumstances. It doesn't take much courage to be a follower and go along to get along. It does take much courage to step outside The Box and forge one's own path and reality. So perhaps this is your answer: most people live through their egos and are therefore cowards and prefer to be told what to think and do, when to think and do it. So they seek a religion they don't mind kissing the backside of and join a political persuasion they can salve their conscience with and get a nice niche job in some hugh corporation or government office so they can say "I'm just doing my job" e.i., unquestioningly doing as I'm told and whose job description forbids THINKING and FEELING - an automaton. If you feel controlled by others then you are being called upon to reassess your belief paradigm of victimhood and maybe even do something about it. Most won't do either. |
