The idea of healing the world is being pursued by many, perhaps millions, at this time. There are individuals, groups small and large, and even large outfits like the Maharishi's university and international efforts. Which brings us to questions like what is healing?, what is the world?, Who are we?, and What is our interface with the world? According to some the world is perfect meaning nothing is happening that is not a perfect rendition of Universal Law. There is Cause and there are Cause's Effects. In my years of studying healing we've uncovered a few ideas that give people the most difficulty. The first being the misperception we are our bodies. We are not our bodies; we are our Minds/Consciousness. The second major problem area is people make negative judgements about themselves, others and events. These two issues are among the roots of most of the social and personal difficulties encountered. Therefore to bring healing to the world we must heal these two attitudinal effects. These two symptoms are effects of seeing one's self as separate from All Else (them against us sort of thing). Religions (which originally meant "to reconnect") are notorious for breeding this misconcept of separation through divergent belief systems. We heal the first one by learning what Mind/Consciousness is. There is enough empirical research to substantiate to any level-headed and honest person the truth of the ascertion. There may be death to the physical body but the Mind/Consciousness lives on - perpetually. Healing the second is done by living in the moment and not passing judgement on anyone or anything. This is even more difficult than the first one because so many have been brainwashed by religious, political and cultural views adapted from ancient superstitions and false data. There is a shortcut! This shortcut goes to the heart of the matter. It involves a state of being sometimes referred to as "Universal Love" and at other times referred to as "Foregiveness". Actually these two states are two sides of the same coin. Love knows no opposite and Foregiveness releases our Minds from self-created judgements of negativity, fear and guilt. When these two states are achieved we can then see a healing of world because the healing is actually the reformation of one's self and self's world view: "Where does the healing of the world take place? When your mind again is seen as whole. The instant you look into a brother's eyes and see your Self reflected there. When your whole mind is known by you to mean every mind, all minds merged as One, the world will instantly change. It will be healed because you see it to be so. You will have changed the cause by healing the thought of being separate from the Mind of God. The effect of then seeing only the world of God's Perfection is instantaneous. With the misperceived thought now gone, cause and effect have become the same." [Dialogue on Awakening, page 4.] emphasis added |
